We would like to inform you that as of 15:00 the services of the .pl domain registry system are stable. Technical problems have been resolved and full access to the services has been restored.
Number of domain names, secured with the DNSSEC protocol, to be the highest in two years, number of registrations still growing - results from the latest report of the .pl domain name registry in NASK, summarizing the .pl domain name market in the opening quarter of 2022.
Almost 30 thousand unique security incidents were registered in 2021 by CERT Polska team, operating within the structures of the NASK National Research Institute. Over 75% of incidents handled were of phishing nature. This shows an almost 200% increase in the category of such events compared to the previous year.
Another quarter with an increase in loyalty to Polish domains, the renewal rate amounted to 73.63%.
More than 2.5 million names in the .pl domain, higher number of domain names secured with DNSSEC, further increase in the renewal rate.
At the end of the second quarter of 2021 in the .pl domain registry there were 2 500 710 active domain names, i.e. by 4 492 more than in the previous quarter. In the discussed period 172 756 new names were registered. Almost 84% of registrations were made by registrants domiciled in Poland. The total number of registrants amounted to 1 103 039.
In order to examine and categorise the usage of Internet domain names, the Internet robot 'crawler' signs of life was developed within the Council of European National Top-Level Domain Registries (CENTR) work as an indexing tool, allowing monthly data to be collected on the basis of a random sample (50k) of domain names, provided by the participating members of this initiative, including the .pl Domain Registry.
In the first quarter of 2021, 201 338 new names were registered, over 22 thousand more than in the previous quarter. The renewal rate maintained the upward trend and amounted to 71.29%, beating the record in the fourth quarter of 2020.
At the end of 2020 in the .pl domain Registry, there were 2 473 487 domain names active in DNS. The number of new registrations amounted to 743 659. Over 2 thousand names were registered daily average.
In the last quarter of 2020, 179 103 new names were registered, i.e. over 5 thousand more than in the previous quarter. At the end of December, there were 2 473 487 active domain names in the .pl domain name registry. The renewal rate reached again the record result and amounted to 68.82%.
